Projects for Fundraising
The Directorate of Engagement seeks advice annually from Pro-Vice-Chancellors and Heads of School about fundraising opportunities. These must be high priority projects and positions and must be evident from a reading of the relevant strategic plan.
The Directorate of Engagement ensure that gifts are correctly managed and reported to donors, as well as working with University staff to acknowledge gifts in appropriate fashions.
The Directorate of Engagement operates an Annual Appeal to secure unrestricted gifts as well as gifts for stated School and Faculty priorities.
Alumni and other constituents may give donations by cheque or credit card.
Students are also encouraged to consider a graduating class gift, via the Annual Appeal.
Major gifts are generally those of $25,000 and more and which will not normally be given via the Annual Appeal. Major gifts are for specific projects and positions. Often a major gift opportunity will be funded by a single donor.
All fundraising by alumni networks is via the Annual Appeal.
Capital campaigns are the outcome of strategic planning that has indicated a number of priority needs that could be addressed with fundraising. The fundraising opportunities are normally for significant sums. Campaigns may be for a single project, such as a building, or for a range of major initiatives including staff positions, scholarships, projects, construction, refurbishments and others.
