School of Engineering and Physical Sciences Alumni

The School of Engineering and Physical Sciences places great importance on maintaining links with past students who are an integral part of our School community. We are always delighted when contacted by past graduates who relate their experiences, successes and the course their lives have taken. Our aim is to build and nurture the relationship between our Alumni, the students, staff and supporters of the School community.

In 2013 we are seeking expressions of interest from alumni who are interested in forming an Engineering Network and/or Engineering and Physical Sciences Network. The purpose of the network/s would be dependent on the members’ wishes but could satisfy a variety of social, community and professional goals such as:

  • Keeping in touch with university friends
  • Attending professional networking opportunities
  • Keeping abreast of the latest professional trends and developments
  • Mentoring undergraduate students
  • Communicating alumni views, needs, interests to the university

If you would like to express an interest in forming a network, or would like to know how,  please contact alumni@jcu.edu.au

Cairns Alumni Network

The Cairns Network was founded in the latter half of 2010 and hosted visits by Prof David Suzuki, and Karl Kruszelnicki (Dr Karl of TV science fame), Early in 2011, when Jeffrey Archer’s travel time did not permit a visit to Cairns, we tried a live videolink to Townsville – with the opportunity to participate in questions – this worked surprisingly well with a small but enthusiastic audience!  Many more events are being planned for 2011.

Alumni who would like to be involved with the network's organisation, and those just wishing to ensure that they are on the events mailing list are asked to email alumni@jcu.edu.au
