Mr Nigel Dews
Mr Nigel Dews is currently the Senior Advisor, Telecommunications for Hong Kong based Hutchison Whampoa, a role he took up in April 2012, where he has been working on new mobile tecommunications business opportunities for Hutchinson, in Europe and Asia. He was previously Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Hutchison Australia.
Nige was a student at James Cook University between 1981 and 1984, gaining a Bachelor of Economics with Honours Class 1 and a University Medal.
Before the formation in 2009 of Vodafone Hutchison, which is a 50-50 joint venture in Australia between Vodafone and Hutchison Whampoa, Mr Dews had been Chief Executive Officer of 3 Australia since 2007.
He had joined 3 Australia as Director Sales, Marketing and Product in 2003 from Fairfax Media where he had held senior management positions for more than seven years. At Fairfax, Mr Dews had focused on the growing digital side of the business.
Previously he held a senior consultant role with the leading management consultancy firm McKinsey & Company and before that was an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia.
